Sanderson Wins For The First Time In 2016

Concord, NC - Defending Champion Scott Sanderson had to do some extra defending on the last lap at Charlotte Motor Speedway Thursday night. Michael went low for a pass in turn 3, but couldn't hold it coming out of 4, which prompted Sanderson to pick up his first win of the 2016 MVTS season.

"luckily enough, Justin is a good teammate of mine, good friend of mine and we were working to stay up front" Said Sanderson (via MSTV) Scott talked a little about his disappointing start to the season while bringing up the Daytona 500. "just had some unfortunate luck at Daytona, got caught up in someone else mess. Just haven't had the best runs this season, the competition has definitely stepped up this year"

Justin Michael finished a close second Thursday night leading 23 laps, and had this to say about trying for the lead. "i would have pressured Scott more by going to the inside but i knew i would give up the high side to Greg and then i wouldn't have been able to hold him off"

Nathan Silvia ran into an unfortunate black flag on the 3rd restart of the night. The leader Justin Michael jumped the gun and caught Silvia sleeping, when he did Silvia ended up with a black flag for passing under yellow and had to serve that penalty on lap 25. After going a lap down in the race Nathan came back to finish 9th in the race.

Tommy Lee had another disappointing night finishing 20th after starting and running in the top 5 for the first half of the race. Some more disappointing finishes include,

Ray Kingsbury (24th)

Wally Tirheimer (27th)

Keegan Leahy (30th)

Johnny Smith (31st)

The Haulers will be heading to Fort Worth in two weeks to tackle the Texas Motor Speedway. The race will begin at approximately 9:05 and be broadcasted live on Max Speed TV with Commentators Rudy Cummings and Scott Brinson.
